Oktoberfest, Gedichte Abend & Sprach Community
On October 18, 2008, Sprach Institut successfully hosted their annual celebration of the Oktoberfest together with another Gedichte Abend (poetry night). New and old students read poetic compositions. The launching of Sprach Community also took place during this occasion. The event was held at the Royal Concourse, Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City. Many students attended as well as guests from DED, GTZ and AUFTRAG.

Deutscher Gedichte Abend in Cebu
The German Poetry Night last Feb. 2, 2008 was both a melodious & dramatic success. Romantically set at The Outpost, a renovated old house dating back from the Spanish colonial era with an artsy interior, featuring contemporary paintings & old guitars across from a bar with all sorts of installations hanging from the wall and flaming torches lighting the path outside; the event had a setting for a bewitching evening full of German poetry and song intermissions rendered by former and current students studying at the Sprach Institut Cebu. For guest speaker, Herr Thorsten Gross launched the poetry night with a speech in his native tongue. Some of the recitalists also happened to be teachers and participants from the previous poetry night, who never failed to attend these small poetic gatherings. While the majority of the poems were self-composed, inspired by love and coincidentally ideal for the month of hearts, a minority chose to quote famous poets or song-writers with themes ranging from colorful folk songs to haunting poems about death. Everyone had to a amiable time, even extending their stay after the event in order to mingle and hit-chat about future plans for the next possible poetry night.
