The German Basic Course is a preparatory class for the Start Deutsch 1 language tests, conducted jointly by the Goethe-Institut (GI) & Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme GmbH (WBT).

The results of the SD1 examination from June 12, 2009 have been released and Sprach Institut-Cebu heartily congratulates everyone who passed the SD1 examinations. Our school is very proud of the students who took extra effort to achieve such high passing scores. We are very proud of you!
The certificates for attendance for those who attended the A1 & A2 courses can be picked-up from the the institute during office hours. For those who requested to have their Start Deutsch 1 certificates sent to the school are to advised to pick them up personally. Please call in advance to schedule for an appointment with the secretary.

Kulturkurs
Newly integrated into the regular German Basic Course is a special cultural course that aids to assist the participants to understand and relate more to their European counterparts, as well as enjoy learning the language even more, by getting a more solid grasp of the German culture. This additional course will try to help integrate students in anticipation of emotional and psychological expectations in a German-speaking country.
Topics discussed will range from simple everyday subjects to informative topics like Alltag in Deutschland, getting around by Bus, Zug oder Auto, common European art & architecture, women in Germany, common customs & special holidays, significance of well-known landmarks, important government offices, medical insurance and many more useful and interesting topics.
Classes will be at least once a week and are hosted by DED (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst) representative Frau Hansen. For more inquiries feel free to contact us.
 A2 COURSE
The A2 Level is a preparatory class for the Start Deutsch 2 examination which documents the second level of the six skill levels described in the Common European Framework for Languages. 'A' designates the ability to use language at a basic level.
German Basic Course - A2 Level is the course you're looking for if you already have some knowledge of the German language and would like to refresh and/or build up your knowledge of grammar and conversational German.

 Teachers' Training Seminar
Part 10 and the last leg of the teaching seminars for the German language instructors situated within Cebu City and cooperating together with the Goethe-Institut Philippines successfully wrapped-up on March 1, 2009.
The training facilitator, Tanja Müllneritsch from the Goethe-Institut Philippinen, highlighted during this teaching seminar Hörverstehen - focusing on how to develop and improve DaF students' phonetic understanding employing diverse and useful strategies during the German language courses.
 Intensive Preparatory Course for the SD1 Exams
Aside from free review classes for the SD1 examinations, SIC now also offers a Prüfungsvorbereitungskurs which focuses solely on refreshing the knowledge of the examinees who plan to take the SD1 test again. Click here to view the schedule. Sessions are 3 hours long and hold only limited seats.
 Updated Requirements for Visa Application:
As of September 2007, applicants of a German residence permit for family reunion or marriage in Germany must provide proof of basic knowledge of German. This can be produced through the certificate of the language examination "Start Deutsch 1" from the Goethe-Institut Manila.

› Flohmarkt
 On June 6, 2009, Sprach Institut-Cebu is inviting everyone to come visit and participate at our local version of the Flohmarkt which will happen on the 2nd floor of the Sprach Institut-Cebu. Registration is in the morning and goods will be displayed the whole day. All items will be labelled with their German name and bartering can be made in German. This activity is open to the public but is organized primarily for and by the SIC students to help them enrich their basic knowledge and Wortschatz of the German language.

› Poetry Night
 Another night of poetry, prose and music was held last February 28, 2009, at 6 PM at the Sprach Institut-Cebu. Students, teachers and guests presented their poetic contributions to highlight another successful and lively Deutscher Gedichte Abend.

› SIC Exhibits at the Shangrila
 From Sept. 20 to 22, 2008, Sprach Institut-Cebu had a successful exhibit at the Shangri-la Garden Exhibit, showcasing not only the school's courses & offerings but also the cooperation of related establishments like Goethe Institute, InWent and AUFTRAG.
› 1st Filipino German Marine Science Alumni Conference
 H. E. Christian Ludwig Weber-Lortsch, the German Ambassador in the Philippines, opened the First Filipino and German Marine Science Meeting at the Parklane International Hotel in Cebu City last November 6, 2007.
